macOS
Your computer- macOS 14 Sonoma or newer
- Apple silicon (M1 or later)
- 8 GB of memory (16 GB recommended)
- About 3 GB free for the standard model
Free on every system. Pick yours below; the one you are using now is highlighted.
Open the disk image and drag TypeBlink into the Applications folder.
The app is not notarised with Apple yet, so macOS says it cannot verify it. On macOS 15 or newer, click Done, open System Settings › Privacy & Security and click Open Anyway. On macOS 14, Control-click TypeBlink in Applications and choose Open.
Switch on TypeBlink under Privacy & Security › Accessibility, download the recommended model (about 2.8 GB) and write a sentence about how you write. TypeBlink then lives in the menu bar.
Windows may say “Windows protected your PC” because the installer is not signed yet: click More info, then Run anyway. It installs for your user only; no administrator password is needed.
It downloads the model and asks how you write. Windows needs no extra permission.
TypeBlink lives in the system tray; click ^ at the right of the taskbar if you do not see it.
Double-click the .deb file, or run sudo apt install ./TypeBlink_amd64.deb in a terminal.
The setup assistant adds TypeBlink as a keyboard input source (Settings › Keyboard › Input Sources). Your usual layout keeps working.
Pick it in the top bar's keyboard menu, or press Super + Space. The tray icon appears in the top bar.
TypeBlink checks for new versions on its own and offers them with a notification, or use Check for Updates… in its menu. Updating keeps your settings and model.
