TypeBlink 0.5: a new name, display settings and smarter spelling fixes

What's new
Features

Autocomplete that fits the way you write

TypeBlink adds one thing to every app you type in: the rest of your sentence, in grey, right where your cursor is. Here is everything around that.

All features

Suggestions right at your cursor

Grey text continues your sentence in the app's own font and colour. Tab takes the next word, the key above Tab takes the rest, Esc dismisses.

Works in the apps you already use

Mail, Notes, Slack, Teams, Claude, Chrome and more: native apps, browsers and Electron apps, with no plugin per app.

Your writing stays on your computer

A language model runs on your own machine. Nothing you type is sent to a server, and the app has no analytics.

Fixes typos as you go

A misspelled word gets its fix in a small bubble. Click or arrow back onto a word later and the fix is offered again.

Finishes half-typed words

Type “Thurs” and it offers “day at 10 am.” Short words complete before you finish them.

Per-app control

Turn it on or off for each app, set app-specific instructions, and pause it anywhere with one shortcut. Code editors start switched off.

Pick the model that fits

Gemma and Qwen models from about 1 GB to 30B parameters, a recommendation for your memory, or any GGUF model you bring.

Looks right everywhere

Choose the suggestion colour (including colour-blind-safe options), strength and weight, and inline or bubble per app.

Mac, Windows and Ubuntu

One app for all three. On Ubuntu it works as a keyboard input source, so it reaches the apps you use every day.

Free, no account

No sign-up, no subscription, no word limit. Download it and start typing.

Learns your style, if you want

Write a sentence about how you write. Optionally let it learn from what you type, stored encrypted on your computer.

See what it saved you

Words completed per day, with an optional count in the menu bar.

Keyboard

Shortcuts that stay out of your way

Every key except these keeps typing as normal. All of them can be changed in Settings › Shortcuts.

Choose the model that fits your computer

Models download once inside the app and run on your own processor and memory. The setup assistant recommends one for your computer; switch any time in Settings › Model.

Control

Quiet where you want it, helpful everywhere else

  • Switch suggestions on or off for each app, and decide whether Tab is used there
  • Give an app its own instructions, like “formal” for your email client
  • Terminals and code editors start switched off; ask for a suggestion there with a shortcut
  • Pause in the current app for five minutes with one key, or everywhere with a key you choose
  • Only suggest on demand, if you prefer to ask first
Personal

Suggestions that sound like you

  • Tell TypeBlink a sentence or two about how you write
  • Optionally let it learn from what you write, stored encrypted on your computer
  • A word-choice slider for safer or more adventurous suggestions
  • Optional context from the text on your clipboard (off by default)
  • Short, medium or long suggestions, and how soon they appear

Try every feature, free

TypeBlink is free on Mac, Windows and Ubuntu. Set up takes about two minutes, most of it the model download.
