Free AI autocomplete for Mac
Suggestions in every Mac app, right at your cursor: Mail, Notes, Messages, Slack, Teams, Claude and your browser. Press Tab to take them. The AI runs on your Mac.

Beyond macOS predictions
macOS can predict a word or two as you type in many apps. TypeBlink goes further: whole phrases shaped by how you write, in native apps and Electron apps alike, with typo fixes that come back when you click onto a misspelled word.
How it works on a Mac
TypeBlink lives in the menu bar. When you pause while typing, it reads the words before your cursor through macOS Accessibility, asks a language model running on your Mac's Apple silicon, and draws the rest in grey, in the app's own font and colour. Tab takes the next word, ` takes all of it, Esc dismisses it.
- ⌃ ` asks for a suggestion in terminals and code editors, which start switched off.
- ⌃ ⌥ ⌘ ` pauses it in the current app for five minutes.
Private and offline
Your writing never leaves your Mac. TypeBlink goes online only to download a model and to check for updates. If you let it learn your style, what it learns is encrypted with a key in your Mac's Keychain.
Choose your model
The setup assistant recommends a model for your Mac's memory, starting with Gemma 4 E2B (about 2.8 GB). Macs with more memory can run larger Gemma and Qwen models, or any GGUF file. See all features, or the guide to AI autocomplete on a Mac.
What you need
- macOS 14 Sonoma or newer
- Apple silicon (M1 or later)
- 8 GB of memory (16 GB recommended)
- About 3 GB free for the standard model
Mac questions
Is there a free AI autocomplete for Mac?
Yes. TypeBlink is free on macOS, with no account, no trial and no word limit. Suggestions come from a model running on your Mac.
Does it work on Intel Macs?
No. TypeBlink needs Apple silicon (M1 or later) and macOS 14 Sonoma or newer, because the model runs on the Mac's own chip.
Why does TypeBlink need Accessibility access?
To read the text field you are typing in and insert the words you accept. You switch it on once in System Settings › Privacy & Security › Accessibility.
Should I turn off macOS predictive text?
If you see two suggestions at once, yes: in System Settings › Keyboard › Text Input, click Edit and switch off inline predictive text.
Is TypeBlink a free alternative to Cotypist?
Yes. Like Cotypist it suggests text inline in every Mac app with a local model; unlike Cotypist's free plan, it has no daily word limit and every feature is free. It also runs on Windows and Ubuntu.
Type less. Say more.
TypeBlink is free on Mac, Windows and Ubuntu. Set up takes about two minutes, most of it the model download.
